Frequently Asked Questions

Xave is Secure Encrypted Space on your device which allows you to store private and confidential data locally. This allows you to take your private data wherever you go. Furthermore, all files are encrypted at rest on your device instead of the cloud. When the app is not in use, it is protected with several layers of authentication before it can be accessed. Anytime you leave the app, it will require you to re-enter your 4-digit PIN and uses biometric authentication if Face ID or Touch ID has been enabled.

To begin, simply press the + button at the bottom center of the main screen and select to add files to your encrypted vault.

Xave uses a key exchange protocol which combines the Double Ratchet algorithm, PreKeys, triple Elliptic-curve Diffie–Hellman (3-DH) handshake, and Curve25519. xPal also uses AES-256, and HMAC-SHA256 as primitives. Our own patent pending encrypted compression method allows for one of the best and fastest viewing and delivery of large, encrypted files.
Peace of mind and control is what Xave is all about it. All your personal data is encrypted at rest and is with you all the time. Xave also provides you the control to add, send, receive, sort, search, browse, or permanently delete files such as photos, videos, and other supported files with ease and speed.
There are several authentication factors that can be set such as 4-Digit PIN, Biometric authentication, and password protection. You must elect to use at least one method to authenticate, or you can use all of them if you choose to.
The 4-Digit PIN is required and cannot be disabled for longer than 4 hours. This is designed to protect you and your data in case your device is lost or stolen. Disabling the PIN for 4 hours will require biometric authentication to be set, such as Face ID or Touch ID.

xID is a unique global 9-digit number assigned to you once you register on Xave or xPal. It is your private masked identity on the xPal Secure Messenger platform. It will enable you to send encrypted texts and make encrypted and secure audio or video calls on xPal to any other xID globally. With an xID, there is no need for an area code or country code.

Xave and xPal deploy a state-of-the-art method to strip any and all metadata from media files and documents prior to encrypting, compressing, and sharing them with other members. This is Xave’s own Sanitizer™. This mechanism is intended to protect the member from unknowingly sending or sharing unwanted personal information attached to shared files such as location, date, time, device type, etc….

In the event that you wish to wipe out your entire vault, including its activity history from your device, you can activate the Total Wipeout™ feature in Settings. This feature is a one-step method that, when you enter your 4-digit PIN in reverse, will instantly wipe out your history and masks any reference to it.

xPal® is a secure encrypted messenger, which enables you to send encrypted text, make encrypted and secure audio or video calls on xPal, to any other xID globally without the need for an area code or country code.
xPal service interacts with Xave in such a way that it allows you to send and receive encrypted files through xPal Messenger, without the need for any additional registration. By doing so, all the encrypted files, such as photos, videos, or documents will remain encrypted all the time.
Simply choose to send a file stored in your Xave vault with xPal to ensure that the file stays encrypted in transit until it arrives at the intended recipient.

A 4-digit PIN serves as an additional layer of security to safeguard your data in various scenarios. Firstly, it acts as a barrier in case your phone is accessed by someone who shouldn't have access or if it’s left unlocked unintentionally. Secondly, it prevents encrypted files from being decrypted by unauthorized individuals ensuring that your sensitive information remains protected at all times. We strongly recommend keeping this feature enabled to maximize the security of your device and its contents. The benefits of this added security outweigh any minor inconvenience it may cause.
Exclusive security features, such as Reverse PIN total wipeout and the Decoy 4-digit PIN, cannot be used if PIN function is disabled. For more information, please read the security section for these special features.
